Based in Malakwa near Sicamous, British Columbia, our team combines hands-on sawmilling knowledge with modern custom-cutting capability. We produce Douglas fir and cedar to project specifications, provide certified timber grading and ship mill-direct orders throughout Canada.
Originally powered by a gas engine, the sawmill was hand-operated when Scottie (Norris) Hyde moved to Sicamous and purchased the facility in 1951. With the help of his wife and children, Scottie developed Hyde Sawmill into a successful mill serving the Sicamous region and the family farm.
Alan Hyde, son of Scottie, moved back to the family farm with his wife to raise their two children and revitalize the sawmill where he had worked as a child. The mill began cutting railroad ties and supplying the local residential construction industry.
Over the next seven years, Alan and Kim grew the mill into a busy lumber business serving British Columbia’s interior.
Kim’s parents, Merv and Anne Siegrist, relocated to Sicamous to become partners in Hyde Sawmill. Together, the family purchased a larger facility to accommodate growing contracts and continued building the mill around quality, capability and personal service.
For more than a decade, Alan and his son Tyler ran the mill side by side, combining generations of sawmilling knowledge with modern custom cutting and certified timber grading.
Following Alan’s passing in January 2026, Tyler continues the family business with his wife, Krista, and his mother, Kim. Together, they are carrying forward the standards Alan built into Hyde Sawmill while serving builders and contractors across Canada.
